Looking after your feet is no April fool

Updated: May 4, 2020

With Easter literally around the corner its getting to that time of year when the sandals will be coming out but are your feet ready?

The long winter months can be damaging to our feet as with the colder/wetter weather our feet don't see the light of day. This can lead to dry skin build up and your heels becoming cracked and sore. Obviously a good pedicure would kick start your foot care routine. if you have to give your feet some treats at home (which given the current climate you do) here are some great tips to follow for all year round gorgeous feet.

Here are my top foot care tips:

1) Scrub your feet - using a body scrub or exfoliator, this should be done daily if not every time you have a shower.

2) Rotate your shoes everyday - During the day your feet will perspire leaving your shoes slightly damp, if you rotate them every day your shoes can dry out and help prevent your feet cracking and becoming sore.

3) linked to number 2 use antiperspirant on the soles of your feet.

4) One issue I always have is when clients incorrectly cut their toes nails. If they are cut wrongly it can lead to ingrown toes nails which are both painful and unsightly. So when you cut your toe nails cut them straight across.

5) Soak your feet in warm water - this helps to remove dead skin cells.

6) Moisturise your feet every night

7) Smooth any calluses or hard skin with a pumice or foot file

8) Apply cuticle cream

9) When your out wearing your sandals (This goes for sitting in the garden too) and your feet are exposed to the sun apply a high SPF sun cream.

I just wanted to also share some self care tips with you during this rather unsettled time. I hope you are all looking after yourself and your family during this time. Please may I also take this time to thank all my lovely readers, clients and followers.

The salon will reopen bigger and better than before it may even have a totally new look.

Our blogs will also be changing. They will be slightly shorter but more frequent so our next blog due out in the middle of April is all about skin types and what you can do to help your skin problems.

All my best wishes

Harriet xx
