Nail colours & skin tone

When any client comes in the salon the first question at any nail appointment id the dreaded what colour are you going to have? This question can take second or minutes decide especially when faced with over 100 colours.

So how what is the best way to decide your nail colour and its simple it all comes down to you skin tone. Some nails colours if chosen correctly can really compliment your skin tone making your look more healthy and give your skin a boost. However, some colours on the wrong skin tone can really be draining and make your skin tone just looks really off colour. Plus when your nails look great you look and feel great too!

Skin tone can be broken down into 5 tonal areas and within each area I will let you know what colour's are best and give you some in salon examples that you could try and your next nail appointment.

  • Pale skin: Pastel shades, paler pinks, blues & greens. Why note try - pink gin, slate & petronus.

  • Fair skin: Light purples, pinks, reds & berry shades. Why not try - Lavender sparkle, Aubergine & piller box red.

  • Tan skin: Light blue/pinks, browns & brighter shades of orange & red. Why not try - Rose gold, pumpkin & acorn.

  • Medium skin: Vibrant oranges/pinks, metallic/glittery shades & darker browns/reds. Why not try - Maple, ruby & black diamond

  • Dark skin: Deep purples, dark greens/blues, chocolate & gold. Why not try - Emerald, midnight & espresso.
