Welcome to my first EVER blog and to the start of many fantastic additions coming to Inner City Beauty in 2020

I hope you've all had an amazing Christmas and a fab start to what isn't only a new year but a whole new decade. I'm sure so many of you like myself want to make some changes to their lives this year.

But is one of these changes getting better looking skin?

If it isn't it should be and if it is I'm sure you will find this blog really useful by making positive changes that will benefit you and your skin.

This time of year can be really challenging on our skin so why not get a stable skincare routine in place; not only will this benefit your skin but it will make you feel better and its the perfect excuse to go shopping.

One of the biggest questions I get asked is what products do I use and when do I use them. Well its a lot simpler then it looks.

Your skincare routine can be broken down into 2 sections very simply morning and evening.

Morning:

  • Cleanse

  • Tone

  • Eye cream (Day)

  • Moisturise (Make sure it contains and SPF)

  • Exfoliate (3 times a week)

  • Face mask (At least once a week)

Evening:

  • Makeup/Eye makeup remover

  • Cleanse

  • Tone

  • Skin treatments e.g. Anti-aging, blemish cream, serums etc.

  • Eye cream (Night)

  • Moisturise (Night)

I know what your thinking that's a lot of products that I need but you may not need all of them its about getting what you need for your skin type and any problems that you may have. Within the salon I do offer a facial mapping service where I will happily talk you through your skin type and any areas of concern.

So you've got the routine, you've got the products now here are my top tips for glowing, feel good skin.

1. Stay hydrated - This maybe obvious but during the winter the colder weather combined with central heating can really dehydrate your skin so make sure you drink plenty of water.

2. Don't pop spots - As tempting as this maybe please don't do it. This spreads the bacteria found within the spot and thus creating more spots. If you suffer with spots invest in a blemish treatment cream.

3. Use different face masks - We all have different skin problems and not one mask will solve them all. For example, you may be like me and have an oily I zone (forehead, nose & chin) but I have dry cheeks. So, I use two masks one re-balancing for my I zone and a re-hydrating one for my cheeks.

4. Always remove makeup before bed - We are all guilty of doing this but we shouldn't makeup clogs our pores and doesn't allow our skin to breathe or rejuvenate (which happens whilst we are sleeping).

5. Exfoliate regularly - This is essential for glowing skin because when we exfoliate we remove the dead skin cells which allows the products to penetrate the skin not just sit on top. Exfoliating also helps to unblock pores, reduce excess oil and helps to promote cell renewal which helps to fight the signs of aging.

I hope these top tips and skincare routines help you to achieve the glowing skin you deserve.
